Few places have worked their way into our hearts like California. Last year we were so blessed to have a client fly us out to shoot their wedding in Maluibu and this year, our dreams came through yet again when another wonderful client asked us to shoot their destination L.A. wedding.
During Last year's trip, we stayed in and around L.A. so this year, we decided to spread our wings a bit…. okay, a lot. I wish I could bottle up the feeling of driving up California highway 1 without a care in the world, the sun shining and our hair blowing in the breeze. Okay, so no one actually lives like that everyday. But it was truly inspiring and refreshing while it lasted.
Driving up the California Coast
After leaving Los Angeles, we stopped at one of our favorite small cities, Santa Barbara. I'd recommend a stop there to pretty much anyone. Unless you're someone who really don't like beautiful things, Santa Barbara probably has something for you!
From there, we continued north along the coast, spending a day working our way along the oceanside cliffs of Big Sur. Then we drove farther into Northern California, exploring the rural beauty of the Sonoma and Napa valleys. We also spent a wonderful day in San Francisco, but I chose not bring the film camera I borrowed around the city with us, so you there aren't too many photos of San Francisco itself.
Shooting on Film
Speaking of film, every photo in this post was shot on film, thanks to the wonderful Kina Wicks who lent us one of her film cameras for this trip. Thank you again, Kina!
