Mossy Glen Wedding Inspiration | Styled Shoot with Cherry Blossom Events
We are delighted to share this intimate, soft, and romantic styled shoot in one of Wisconsin’s hallmark mossy glens, recently featured on Ruffled Blog. Creating this shoot with the delightful ladies of Cherry Blossom Events was far more harrowing than we ever thought! Before the shoot, we started with this design philosophy that we wanted to practice together:
Event design inspiration: Start with your setting
We believe that great event design can take it’s biggest source of inspiration from the event setting. Instead of pursuing a collection of wedding trends, note the setting-natural growth, textures, time of year, and you’ll have an event design that’s cohesive, timeless, and beautiful!
Wedding inspiration in a mossy glen
We recently put this into practice in this shoot, nestled back in a quiet mossy glen. The space is moody and romantic, rife with delicate textures, earthy smells, and soft breezes that we wanted to reflect in the design. Our talented stylists created a tablescape to draw out the natural tones and textures of the space. (Seriously brides! There's nothing the Cherry Blossom ladies can't do! They are simply the best!)
Dodging severe storms
After we had everything set up, alerts on our phones went off to notify us of a set of sever thunderstorms headed our way. By the time we got the alerts, we had about 5 minutes before the storms arrived and I was stranded back with the table as the remainder of the team got the finishing touches. I photographed like a crazy woman, stored everything under the table, and literally hid under a rock for the thunderstorms.
Andrea joined me and as we hid together, we laughed relentlessly over her living out her dream of being on a survival show. Gosh, under pressure and stress, that's the kind of spirit you want with you on your wedding day!
Once the storms had finally rolled past us, we worked quickly to make the most of our limited remaining light in this amazing space. It was admittedly a crazy day, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. The potential for things like crazy weather is the reality of life in Wisconsin, and how you deal with it says more than avoiding all risks.
Working with such optimistic women who were skilled at both interpreting a space-driven design and even more skilled at rearranging priorities is such an honor and it's the kind of experience I want for each of you, dear brides. Choose wisely what you invest in-skilled artisans can truly make your day!
