Travis’ grandparents moved to Door County Wisconsin from Norway to cultivate a cherry farm. As Travis took Elise boating along the shores of Door County, WI for their first date, they stopped to visit the family’s cherry farm and fell in love along the way.
So naturally, years later, Elise couldn’t imagine their wedding anywhere other than romantic Door County where they first fell in love.
Coastal Door County Wedding Inspiration
Being inspired by Travis’ family farm nestled along the Door County coast, they selected a stunning coastal venue that was once a farm, with pristine gray and white barns, annabelle hydrangeas, and of course, seaside views.
Elise and Travis paid homage to Travis’ family farm, Meleddy farms, in creating their signature cocktail, the Meleddy Mule. The bright, summery cocktail includes cherry juice from Meleddy farms. Then, for dessert, they served the most darling individual cherry pies with cherries grown on the family farm.
Honoring family was clearly a top priority to Elise and Travis throughout their wedding day. As a nod to Elise’s family, Elise selected her Paloma Blanca gown in part because it was made with the same Alencon lace her mother wore years ago. She then took a piece of her mother’s lace and had her bouquet wrapped in it.
Elise and Travis committed their love to each other on the perfect sunny summer day, overlooking the coast and, as I watched the groomsmen in their suspenders and sperry’s, and the breeze blowing the bridesmaids’ navy gowns, I wondered if we were still in Wisconsin or if we’d been transported to New England!
