David and Katie | Rockefeller Chapel and Salvage One Chicago Wedding Photography
Have you ever seen "How I Met Your Mother?" because I have a classic Ted Mosby love story for you today.
A Classic Ted Mosby Love Story
Sometimes you just know that you weren't meant to be alone. David knew that was him early on in college. He had a strong crew of friends, a relatable charm, and quick sense of humor that all were going for him but as relationships didn't work out, he felt discouraged. He and his friends lovingly dubbed the worst of it "2010: Never Again."
A few years after college, however, he met Katie. She had just returned from studying abroad and they connected while talking about this experience. She laughed at all his jokes (mega-points, Kate!) and he loved hearing about her travels. As they were talking that first time, David said "I knew that Katie was what I'd been looking for all along."
And as he shared these very words in his toast at their wedding, I teared up with them, and felt so very special to be there photographing this part of their love story.
Katie, the perfect compliment to David, has this amazing personality which is equal parts calm and driven. She's pretty unstoppable and she has just the right dose of attitude. I love that about her.
A Rockefeller Chapel and Salvage One Wedding
If you haven't visited Rockefeller Chapel, it is known for it's dramatic center aisle, the perfect setting for this couple who opted to wait to see each other until that beautiful moment. As Katie walked the aisle on her father's arm, a dramatic organ and trumpet voluntary played Beyonce's "Halo." I had goosebumps, was crying, and all of a sudden I realized "heyyyy! This is Queen Bey!" That's Katie, in a nutshell. Also, can we talk about her blush Badgley Mischka's for a second? Wowza!!
David and Katie planned a day that was both elegant and quirky. They loved the beauty and architecture of Rockefeller Chapel and the surrounding University of Chicago Campus, but they wanted something that also felt quirky and relaxed. So they selected a reception at Salvage One. I've honestly never seen such a relaxed and happy cocktail hour!
David and Katie, your day was just beautiful. I laughed all day and I cried a few times. If there was a wedding I wished I were a guest at, it was yours. Thank you for giving us the honor of being a part of your story. Enjoy a few of our current favorite photos from your day.
