FAQ

How do people describe your style?

Our work is done in the Fine Art style. This means that we see everything through two primary filters: aesthetic beauty and the authenticity of the story we're telling.

We work to leverage the most aesthetically pleasing elements possible—natural light, flattering angles, enduring settings, but we never want to manipulate things in a way that feels forced . We believe a wedding day should be fully enjoyed in the moment, with just enough strategic direction to create beautiful, timeless imagery.

What inspires you?

When you look at a work of impressionist art, like a painting by Monet, you notice that the artist’s emphasis was on evoking a feeling or mood rather than creating a literal replication of a particular scene.

We are most inspired when we are empowered to tell an authentic story in a beautiful way to evoke an emotional response. To us, it's about telling an authentic story in an elevated way that lends itself to timeless imagery.

We get a rush when surrounded by elements that have a sense of history and place and weathered textures with unique character.

Why film photography?

1. The look: We love the way film stocks capture color and light with a clean, timeless look. Greens are truer, skin tones are more glowing, smooth and warm and light is softer and more consistent.

2. The Process: We feel that approaching our work with a film photography mindset helps us to slow down and be more intentional in our process. With film, every shot counts, so it's important to get it right. Also, because the process is more manual, it makes the photographer slow down a bit, leading to a more relaxed experience for those being photographed.

While digital has a place in our toolbox, we love shooting on film when conditions allow. Much of the work you see on our site is done in this medium.

Where has your work been featured?

We have been featured on many national and international wedding blogs including Style Me Pretty, Magnolia Rouge, Ruffled, Elizabeth Anne Designs and more. See our Press Page for a detailed list.

Where are you located?

We call Madison, WI home but most often serve clients in Milwaukee, Chicago, & California. We're also happy to travel to Europe or anywhere else you might be getting married.

Will you shoot my wedding in ________?

We love to travel! Contact us for availability.

Do you provide high-resolution image files?

High-resolution image files are included with most sessions and most wedding packages. Contact us more more details about specific commissions and inclusions.

How long after my wedding or session will it take to get my images?

We typically deliver all session and wedding galleries within 4 weeks. Because we shoot a mix of digital and film, it takes a few weeks to receive the high quality image scans back from our film lab.

How many images do you typically deliver from a wedding day?

You can typically expect 55-65 images per hour of shooting. When shooting, we are focused first on quality, but also on capturing the full story of your wedding day as it unfolds.

Can I send you poses from Pinterest?

You are welcome to send us the type of images that inspire you, but we will not directly replicate the work of other artists. You deserve your images to be authentically you and trying to copy what other people have done over many from different settings and conditions restricts you rather than freeing you up to feely engage in the moment.

Bridal Magazines tell me I should send you a Shot List. Is that true?

We don’t work from a shot list so that we can create authentic photos that truly represent the meaningful moments of your day. A formal “shot list” would distract us from shooting in the moment, and potentially cause us to miss the important, authentic and irreplaceable moments of your wedding day as they unfold.

We work with our clients to make sure we have a plan to capture the moments that matter but as we've been shooting weddings for many years, a shot list would only get in the way.

Will my images be retouched?

We edit all images for color balance and exposure to ensure stylistic consistency, but do not retouch your images. We do minimal retouching for orders of large canvas prints and can also provide a quote for more thorough retouching upon request.

Do you offer fine art albums?

While the photographic experience is a foundational part of what we do, we believe that the impact of our work should endure long after your session or wedding day. For many of our clients, this is realized through their Fine Art wedding album.

We work with each of our clients to create a customized fine art album that beautifully and cohesively tells the story of their wedding day.

Can you recommend any additional vendors to complement your work?

Yes! From venues to florals to styling and coordination, we would be happy to recommend professional services to help you articulate your vision and bring it to life!

We love your work, how do we commission you for our wedding?
